privacy policy
Effective Date: 01-01-2026 Last Updated: 06-11-2026 DOCUMENT VERSION: 001
This Privacy Policy describes how duke bikes LLC, doing business as duke bikes ("we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website at dukebikes.co, including our service platform at ride.dukebikes.co (together, the "Site"). This policy covers the Site only. Use of our bike rental service is governed by our Terms of Service.
By using the Site, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

If you have any questions about this policy or your personal information, contact us at the email above.
2. Information We Collect
Information you provide to us:
Name — used to identify your account.
Date of birth — used solely to verify that you are 18 years of age or older, which is required to use our service.
Email address and phone number — used to manage your account and send you service notifications (such as ride confirmations, receipts, and account alerts).
Home ZIP code — used to understand, in aggregate, where our riders come from. This supports the community reporting described in Section 4.
Payment information — when you make a payment, your payment card details are collected and processed by Stripe, our payment processor. We do not store your full payment card number on our servers.
Information collected automatically:
Location information — if you grant permission, we collect your device's location to show you nearby bike stations on our station map.
Camera access — with your permission, the Site uses your device's camera to scan QR codes so you can engage with our service (for example, unlocking a bike). The camera feed is processed in real time only; we do not record, save, or store any camera images, video, or audio.
Usage and device information — like most websites, we automatically receive standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and pages visited. We use this to operate, secure, and improve the Site.
Cookies — we use cookies and similar technologies to keep you logged in, remember your preferences, and understand how the Site is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling them may limit some Site features.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
Create and manage your account
Verify that you meet our minimum age requirement (18+)
Process payments for our services
Send you service-related notifications by email or text message
Show you nearby bike stations on our map
Enable QR code scanning to access and use our service
Produce aggregated, anonymized statistics about how and where our service is used, including where our riders come from
Operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Site
Comply with legal obligations
We do not use your information for purposes incompatible with the ones above without telling you first.
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with the service providers we use to operate the Site, and only as needed for them to perform their services:
Stripe — processes your payments. Your payment details are transmitted directly to Stripe and handled under Stripe's own privacy policy (https://stripe.com/privacy).
Microsoft — we use Microsoft services to deliver email and phone notifications. Your email address and phone number are shared with Microsoft for this purpose.
Mapbox and StorePoint — power our station map. Your location information is shared with these providers to display nearby stations.
Microsoft Azure — hosts our service platform (ride.dukebikes.co). Information you submit through the platform is processed and stored on Azure infrastructure.
Squarespace — hosts our frontend website (dukebikes.co). Squarespace may collect standard visitor data (such as IP addresses and analytics cookies) as part of providing hosting services, under its own privacy policy.
Aggregated and anonymized data. We may share rider data in aggregated, anonymized form — meaning it does not identify you individually — with city officials, local governments, and community organizations. This may include statistics based on riders' home ZIP codes and service usage patterns. We do this to help these groups understand where riders come from and how the service is used, so that infrastructure, programs, and the community can be improved for riders and residents alike. This shared data never includes data that could reasonably identify you.
We may also disclose information if required to do so by law, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users, the public, or our business.
If our business is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any change in ownership or in how your information is handled.
5. Data Retention
We retain the personal information we collect indefinitely by default, including after your account becomes inactive, unless and until you request its deletion. We retain data this way to maintain service records, support the aggregated community reporting described in Section 4, and comply with legal obligations. You may request deletion of your account and associated personal information at any time (see Section 6); we will honor such requests except where the law requires us to keep certain records (for example, payment and tax records).
6. Your Rights and Choices
You may, at any time:
Access the personal information we hold about you
Correct inaccurate information
Delete your account and personal information, subject to legal retention requirements
Opt out of non-essential notifications
To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@dukebikes.co. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe and as required by applicable law.
7. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information, including encryption of data in transit. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Age Requirement
Our Site and service are intended for users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected information from someone under 18, we will delete it. If you believe a person under 18 has provided us personal information, please contact us at hello@dukebikes.co.
9. Third-Party Links
The Site may contain links to third-party websites or services we do not operate. This policy does not apply to those third parties, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies.
10. International Users
We are based in the United States and the information we collect is processed and stored in the United States. If you access the Site from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date above and, for material changes, provide notice on the Site or by email. Your continued use of the Site after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
